This barn sits at the corner of Freedom Road and Highway PF. One Sunday evening, my wife drove me and Violet through the neighborhood, and I rediscovered ten painting locations. I had painted in this are before, but sometimes I just need a reminder to look again. I set up to paint this barn in the late evening, when the pink and orange light of golden hour illuminated the building. For those few minutes, the intensity of the light completely transformed the local color of the barn, replacing it with the warm colors of the setting sun. It was the height of summer, and the quality of light was extraordinary. In my opinion, there is nothing quite like those long summer evenings for painting.
This is the original painting, an oil on canvas measuring 16 × 20" and will come framed.
