I am taking a break this afternoon from framing and hanging the show. I received 100 frames from my Amish frame maker last week, and have been spending a few hours every day framing my impressionist paintings and putting them on the walls of the Chicken Coop. I can't wait to share them with you! Of course, I have had plenty of help from Violet, Corbin, and my Mom in getting ready, and I feel that I am slightly ahead of schedule. That is nice because then I can have some time to paint the autumn colors as they reveal themselves.
There is more new news here than just the paintings. This year I am teaching drawing, part-time, for the University of Wisconsin in Baraboo. I am honored to be exploring drawing with a group of ambitious young adults. I feel like teaching causes you to understand the material in new ways, and I am enjoying working in new ways with graphite and charcoal. I will teach painting in the Spring semester.
The Fall Art Tour has always been close to my heart, and I’m thrilled to be part of it once again. This is my 14th year. There’s something truly special about visiting artists in their home studios, and I hope you take the chance to do that again this year.
