This painting is inspired by my love of homemade lemonade.
I enjoy painting in several mediums, and this winter watercolor has been especially fun to explore. My watercolor setup is minimal. I use a Schmincke Horadam limited palette and a tiny Bijou box with an attached water flask to create these paintings—the entire setup fits in my shirt pocket.
Painting with watercolor feels similar to working in oils, yet new at the same time. The palette of colors is quite different from what I would choose on my own, and that’s part of the fun. Look closely and you’ll see free-flowing pencil lines and layered watercolor washes. I’m really enjoying making these paintings, and I think it shows.
All watercolor paintings are created with professional watercolors on Baohong 140 lb or Arches 140 lb paper.
