This painting captures the light of July more than any other painting I did that month. I was especially happy to paint it because my wife had bought me the little statue at the a thrift store earlier in the week. The moisture in the air that morning, along with the sunlight shining through a pitcher of lemonade and onto the sliced lemons, created shapes and colors that I loved. My fascination with the way sunlight transforms ordinary things really shines through in this piece.
This is the original painting, an oil on canvas measuring 16 × 20" and will come framed.
