Mid-July is a time when we all feel most alive. The sun hangs in the sky for such a long time that just receiving that much light seems to make us more awake. I felt especially awake and alive when I painted the contrast of pink-lit shapes against the teal and green shadows on this farm near Snake Hill.
I can only paint so many golden-hour paintings each year, and to me, they are my favorites. They allow me to capture not just the light, but the poetry and feeling of a hot July sun.
This is the original painting, an oil on canvas measuring 16 × 20" and will come framed.
